This strap is exactly what I wanted, something a bit more substantial than the thin straps that come with phone/wallet holders.
It was easy to order, arrived quickly, and looks great.
The only downside of the beautiful hardware is it is a bit heavy. Overall. I love the strap.
I got this strap to go with the bum bag/fanny pack. I had ordered it with the short jaquard strap which did technically fit my waist but was snug enough to be slightly uncomfortable and was definitely too short to comfortably fit my chest. The leather strap looks very classy and I can easily change the length between a chest bag or bum bag or shoulder bag. For reference I wear about a size 14/16 and 34H bra. I love the bag (my third Arden Cove because I’m obsessed) so I’m glad to have this new strap.

I love the wide strap...for the backpack aspect. However, when trying to adjust to the crossbody style, it isn't long enough...for me. Granted, for the average gal purchasing this product, it would probably work out perfectly for you. Unfortunately for me, it does not sit in a comfortable spot as I am a larger gal. All that aside, I do have the Crissy crossbody purse and was able to switch to that strap and it works...for the most part. The length of the strap is perfect, but I wish there was a wider strap that was slash resistant and the length of the longer crossbody strap. All in all, the quality is top notch and expect no other "complaints," though, this "complaint" is really just a me issue not because the product is not a great one. I showed my backpack to my friend and she was blown away by the feel and the genuine quality of the product! I will also note, I was pleased that, upon request and little upgraded fee, I was easily able to upgrade my standard clasps to the custom newer design. The customer service and quality of the bags are seriously too notch! Bravo! Seriously love both of my bags and totally worth the investment! I am hoping to use the Carmel backpack as a camera bag when I travel. I was able to find a small padded insert that fits into the main compartment. Couple that with all of it's amazing features for safety and travel, I have a feeling it is going to be perfect.

I bought this strap to replace the one that came with a compact camera bag I'll be carrying across my torso in Sicily. The camera bag's original strap is not slash resistant, and I hope I never have to find out just how slash resistant this Arden Cove strap is. That said, the Arden Cove strap easily connected with my camera bag's two D rings, and the strap looks like it belongs with the camera bag. My only criticism is that after adjusting the new strap to its full length, there are a couple of relatively minor creases in the strap material (caused by the adjustment buckle) that have not disappeared after I've used the strap for over a week. And when I'm not using the bag, I hang it (with the camera in it) by the strap to put weight on it, hoping that the creases will eventually fade out/disappear. So far, the creases don't look or feel any different, but if I have to live with them, I'm okay with that. The creases aren't obvious unless you're looking closely at the strap, and my relative peace of mind is worth the less-than-perfect appearance of the strap.

One thing you can try with the dents in the strap is to take a hair dyer and apply some heat to the creases and massage them out. Keep the air moving (don't hold it in one spot too long else it may get too hot) and you should see the creases soften up once it hits the right temperature. I am going to crime ridden Italian cities and I knew that metal infused purse straps were a must. I searched the internet and came up with this ONE source with locking clasps. Which is why they can charge the outlandish price of $50 plus shipping for a PURSE STRAP! I could have bought a purse AND a strap for that. Oh well. Supply and demand had me over their barrel. It is wider than most. I will have to add a neoprene padded slide-on pad to prevent cutting into my neck or shoulder. Luckily that was found for $7 at a backpack store. Rea$onable this strap is not.

We pride ourselves in using high quality materials to make our products, and for the locking wide strap for example, we use a high end microfiber faux leather and custom made locking clasps that are electroplated at A quality levels. The cheaper bags and straps you see online like you mentioned - I can almost guarantee you they are made with PU faux leathers and bags made with polyester as opposed to our microfibers and nylons. This mean those cheaper products won't hold up as well overtime - are not as durable and can even melt/breakdown more easily. On top of that, it takes more time to make these straps anti-theft with the screw bits on the clasps, and reinforcing them with the steel cable.
Hope this sheds some light on why they are priced the way they are, and also why the cheaper products you see out there are cheaper as well!

After hearing stories about cell phones being stolen, especially in Europe, I purchased an over-the-shoulder iPhone case with a cross body strap. The strap that came with the phone was wimpy and would be very easy to cut. I researched online and found Arden's wire reinforced cross body strap and purchased it. I've been using it on a domestic trip and am very, very pleased with the product. It's multi-functional, something I can use with a purse, an iPhone case or a briefcase. I'll be using this reinforced strap exclusively during our trip to Italy.
